Flashback to November and our annual stash exchange! It was filled with friends, yarn and food. A perfect way to start the holiday season!!
Host goes first!
That’s a lot of roving!!
The best part of the stash exchange is that yarn which was lingering one person’s stash becomes exciting new-to-me yarn for someone else. This year, we had an exceptional number of stash exchange projects started immediately after getting yarn at the party and finished before the end of the year!
First, Marissa made this bulky scarf from Jessica’s handspun. It didn’t knit up as quickly as you might think because it had a brief life as a Thorpe hat before it re-emerged as this improvised scarf:
mhenry: Bulky Scarf
Sarah went to town, making a hat and matching mitts from yarn from me and then a boucle tam from yarn from Janice. Also all improvised!!
firesarah: Skull Hat
firesarah: Skull Mitts
firesarah: Boucle Tam
Jessica improvised a cowl using the stitch pattern from Cookie A’s Red Herring Socks from yarn from Elizabeth and Nan:
starryknit: Herringbone Cowl
Kelly made Prolix mitts by Laura Nelkin:
muddskipper: Prolix Mitts
I crocheted (!!) an ups and downs hat to donate to Larkin Street Center via the Hats for Homeless Youths using yarn from Sarah:
teekay: Ups and Downs hat
And finally, last but hardly least, Janice combined the crocheted and knit Sexy Turkey hat patterns by Angela Catirina to make this amazing sexy flightless turkey hat from a huge combo of yarn!
This turkey can’t fly but boy can she run!!
You just never know what stash exchange yarn will become!!
Posted by Tracey who is always happy to reduce the stash.
