Last Saturday Karyn, my kids and I drove up to Vacaville to Meridian Jacobs farm for their annual Meet the Sheep day! It was a warm, sunny day, perfect for hanging out at the farm with the animals.
We met some sweet but shy orphan triplets.
One of the farm club members held one lamb so we could pet it.
Karyn got to feed one.
There were sheep skulls for sale!
We got to hold bunnies.
At one point there was some action in the barn and all the sheep ran through the meadow to see what was going on. I was happy to see the sight I wanted; lambs running! I don’t know many things cuter than wee lambs running and jumping!
There was a new breed of sheep this year.
After a while, we got tired and needed to rest.
I highly recommend this short trip to other fiber lovers. It’s pretty sweet to see the lambs at home, and Meridian Jacobs has a nice little shop. They have great yarn (their own and other local suppliers) and fantastic supplies for spinning and weaving. On Meet the Sheep day, they also have some other vendors and demonstrations/workshops going on, such as dyeing, felting, and spinning. Maybe next year you will join us!
Reported by Marissa, who didn’t get to hold a lamb this year, so will have to try again next year!
